Plato Academy

Plato Academy

SK gas has chosen humanities as a way to spread the 'Happiness Culture' to society. Humanities are the Seeds of Happiness, which can give us the fruit of happiness over time, and SK gas wishes to sow these seeds in our society.

To this end, we are working with the Plato Academy, the first humanities dedicated research foundation in Korea established to deepen and spread "humanities reflection," which pursues excellence in universal spirit and personality.

Plato Academy supports universities and research institutes that study humanities and spreads the humanities by providing humanities lectures to the general public and promoting projects to support humanities clubs for university students.

LPG Recharging Hope Fund

With the aim of "making the world a better place like energy does for us," SK gas raised an "LPG Recharging Hope Fund" worth 10 billion won in February 2012 with E1, an energy company, to implement welfare programs to provide energy welfare for disadvantaged groups and stabilize the livelihoods of low income working families.

Since then, through continuous funding, the company has been carrying out many programs such as scholarships for the children of taxi drivers, LPG piping support for unit facilities, and support for the improvement of LPG supply facilities for social welfare facilities. Among them, scholarships for the children of taxi drivers, a program that grants scholarships to more than 250 students every year, has benefited about 1,900 students so far, and we hope to be able to assist more students with the scholarship in the future.

Support for COVID-19

Support for COVID-19.

1) Tank lorry driver support

SK gas, as part of its support activity for tank lorry drivers of partner companies who are struggling for delivery during difficult times of COVID-19, provides hand sanitizer and health related message of support along with food, etc., to encourage them to overcome the crisis together.

In addition, we implemented 1st and 2nd quarantine at all charging stations in Daegu/Gyeongbuk area, so that not only charging station staff but also consumers visiting charging stations can use them with confidence.

2) 'Happiness Sharing' event with the Quick Service Association

'Quick service' is one of the jobs that require thorough prevention and attention due to the nature of the job in the era of COVID-19. This is because it is a job that inevitably has to be exposed to an unspecified number of people and must meet face-to-face with customers in order to receive and deliver goods. Knowing the risks and difficulties of these quick service drivers, SK gas held a 'Happiness Sharing Event' with the 'Seoul Quick Association'. It was an activity to prepare hand sanitizer, masks, and bottled water to prevent COVID-19 and deliver the goods to quick service drivers.

In this activity, where our biggest goal was to convey empathy and share warmth more than anything else, we thanked many quick service drivers, and they appreciated us by spending great time together.

3) Win-win promotion with flower farmers

SK gas initiated a win-win promotion with flower farms from June 9 to the end of July in 8 charging stations in Daejeon. In order to help flower farmers who has been experiencing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19, this promotion provided a space inside the charging station to sell flowers to customers visiting LPG stations. For the farmers, this promotion provided an opportunity for them to increase their sales opportunities, and for customers, it has been a 'hit two birds with one stone' experience where they can purchase flowers at their nearest LPG charging stations. Also, seeing a lot of flowers when entering the charging station makes visitors feel good which leads to better sales, adding to the goal 'win-win.'
